Initial Assessment

  • Your experience of Anxiety is unique to you

At your first appointment which we call a Needs Assessment, we will spend an hour with you getting to know you and your story and establishing how we can best help you. Your Clinician will discuss treatment options with you and provide some initial education and support. You are welcome to bring along family or support people to this assessment.

What happens during a Needs Assessment is incredibly important. We learn as much as we can of:

    • Your experience with Anxiety
    • Any previous treatment you have had
    • Important lifestyle and personal history experiences relevant to your effective treatment plan

In the Needs Assessment we aim to provide you with a better understanding of what is going on for you, as well as provide support and brief intervention strategies.

We will always encourage you to bring a loved one/support person to your Needs Assessment.

There are a number of proven methods for effectively treating anxiety-related conditions. By getting to know you as best we can, we can create a highly personalised ‘recovery blueprint’ – a customised treatment plan that will take you from fear to freedom.

Medical Assessment

  • Medication can play an important part in the recovery process for some people. We have our own medical specialist who meets with all our clients. As part of your personalised recovery plan, we will arrange for you to meet with Dr Henry who will assess if medication is right for you.  If so, we can take care of that for you.
  • Find Out More

There is a wide range of medication options that may or may not be relevant to your recovery. It is not a replacement for the clinical treatment we provide. Sometimes, medication can play an active, supporting role in taking you from fear to freedom.

Clinical Therapy

  • This is where we live.

Anxiety, Panic Attacks and Phobia conditions respond extremely well to clinical treatment.

If in the past you have felt powerless and overwhelmed by anxiety, our treatment focuses on helping you understand:

    • The pathway of your own very personal history with anxiety
    • How anxiety works in you physically, emotionally and mentally
    • How you can have power over anxiety – instead of anxiety having power over you
  • You really can move from fear to freedom.

Treatment is medically tested and proven. It doesn’t matter what your age is, what the anxiety is you experience, or how long you have lived with it. We give you the tools that will help you:
    • Break the cycle of fear, failure and despondency your anxiety gives you
    • Effectively manage anxiety attacks so that you truly are in control of your life
    • Experience lifelong change by transforming the way you think (cognitive), the way you act (behavioural) and the way you respond to feelings of anxiety
  • Our clinicians are:

    • Fully qualified and experienced New Zealand board-registered psychologists and counsellors
    • Specialists in the effective treatment of Anxiety, Panic Attacks, Obsessive Compulsive Disorders, Phobias and related conditions
    • Passionate about customising an exacting recovery plan that works for you

  • What Will Work For Me?

There are a range of effective treatment options for Anxiety Conditions.

For many of our clients, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is the effective treatment that leads to life-long recovery of Anxiety, Panic Attacks and Phobias.

However, ‘one size does not fit all’. Your recovery process is unique to you. We customise your recovery blueprint to the variables and dynamics of your own situation. Because of this, your personalised treatment plan may also include other psychotherapy models.

  • Your specific recovery pathway may also include

  • We may also include:

    • Relaxation therapy: which teaches you new ways to relax
    • Family therapy: where your whole family or particular family members are involved
    • Exposure therapy: where you learn to face your phobic fears in a controlled and safe way
    • Structured group therapy: where you share your fears and experience with others that are experiencing similar Anxiety Conditions.
    • Various other interventions designed to work specifically with children, adults and families of all cultures.
Your clinician will work with you to create an effective treatment pathway that takes you from fear to freedom.
